The Google Adsense program has finally introduced a feature that will surely give Adsense publishers some peace of mind: Publishers may now allow their Adsense code to show only on URLs, domains, or websites they allow.
Says the Google Blog in this post:
We’ve learned through your feedback that some AdSense publishers are concerned about potentially malicious behavior on the web, such as having their ad code stolen, to be placed on an inappropriate site. To give you more control and security concerning ad code, we’ve recently launched the Allowed Sites list.
To use this feature, log in to your Adsense account, click on the Adsense Setup Tab, then click on the “Allowed Sites” link at the far right end of the navigation. Enter the URLs of your websites or domains, and your Adsense code will not show up on other websites. [See image below]
Google says:
Sites that aren’t on your list can still display ads using your ad code; however, impressions and clicks for these sites won’t appear in your reports, advertisers won’t be charged, and you won’t receive any earnings from them.
The Google Adsense program has become the main source of revenue or monetization for most bloggers, that some malicious elements pasting Adsense codes of competitors on inappropriate websites to get them banned from Adsense.
With this new feature, Adsense publishers have more control. But I long for that day when Adsense will encrypt the Adsense code so that Publisher IDs are hidden from scammers and spammers.
